Foundation Pouring

July and August

Took a little while to get the foundation poured.  The company that we used had to have custom brackets made for the 16" thick walls that we spec'd on the foundation.  They brought one of the big pumper trucks out to fill up the molds.  

We went with Snider waterproofing in Blacksburg to seal up the foundation.  Its a two step process that has a lifetime warranty against leaking.

Life is crazy

This blog is being used to document the building of the first straw bale house in Pulaski county Va. It is being built at Claytor lake as the first project of the Tranquility Cove Subdivision. I will do my best to document the entire process of building not only an energy efficent home but also a work of modern art.
